A student discusses her research with other students

Aggie students do great real-world research.  Student Research Week (SRW) showcases some of this outstanding work with competition and special speakers.  In its 15th year, this annual endeavor is a collaborative effort between academic and Student Affairs offices.  But managing 1185 competitors, judges and event volunteers also requires having IT as a strategic partner.  This year a number of enhancements were requested for the SRW registration system that required a complete revamping of the system.

Ed Cho, one of our application developers, worked closely with the graduate student leadership to redesign and test the system in time for each deadline.  Even when last minute requests were made for special functionality that couldn’t be custom developed quickly, Ed recommended free third party solutions to accommodate the immediate need.

Tracie Lowe, advisor to the Graduate Student Council, wrote:

The SRW team would like to say THANK YOU for all of your work with the website and the registration system this year. We had a lot of requests and changes that we wanted made to help us in scheduling competitors, volunteers, and judges and you were able to make them happen. Whenever we needed something done you were able to complete it and with a quick response. … We appreciate everything that you did and all the time you spent helping SRW to be the success that it was this year.

We like to focus on providing technology that aligns with business needs.  That lets our students focus on things like “Extension of Nucleophile-Catalyzed Michael Aldol Lactonization (NCMAL).”
